Review: Becca Ombre Nudes Eye Palette, By Terry Eye Designer Palette Smokey Nude and Viseart Theory Palette in Cashmere

I'm excited to share my thoughts on these three neutral palettes because not only are they aesthetically beautiful to look at - every single shade is wearable. Most palettes I have in my collection have those one or two rogue colors that don't quite work and could have been left out. But surprisingly with these three palettes from Viseart, By Terry and Becca, there is not a single shade that is not perfect for daily use. Here are my thoughts on each one with corresponding swatches for reference:

1. Becca Ombre Nudes Eye Palette - While I love each and every shade in this Becca palette, I found myself reaching for it as an accompaniment to my daily looks. I would use the shades to either deepen my crease, enhance my liner or highlight under my brow bone. I did attempt a full eye look with the shades in this palette and it was beautiful but very simple. It did more to enhance the shape of my eye and bring out my natural features, rather than add any pizzazz or drama. That being said, even though it's a palette with the most neutral of shades - I have been using it more than I anticipated. It has some of the best crease shades and I end up adding one to my look almost every day. For that, I think it is a great addition to one's makeup collection that may be missing shadow staples to create a polished and refined eyeshadow look.

2. By Terry Eye Designer Palette Smokey Nude - By Terry products always take it to the next level with packaging, colors and textures, but this palette is absolutely stunning. *insert heart eye emoji* The mix of colors is perfection with both cool and warm tones having an equal share, and it combines matte and shimmer shades to accommodate everyone's taste. As usual with By Terry products, the pigmentation and quality of her powder formulations is like no other. These shadows feel like a cream though they are powder, blend effortlessly and have a medium pigmentation that allows for a sheer wash of color or a bold finish. The shimmer is understated and subtle but enough to give some dimension, while the matte is rich and smooth but never flat looking. This palette may be a splurge, but it is worth every penny.

3. Viseart Theory Palette in Cashmere - What drew me in immediately with this palette was its size - it's so compact and cute! There are 3 matte and 3 shimmer shades all in the same color family. I like that there is a color for every part of the eye - lid, crease and liner so that it can be an all-in-one palette without needing any additional shadows. The shadows have a medium pigmentation, though I find that the shimmer shades are a bit more transparent when blended out. There was only a small bit of fall-out when I applied the palette to my lids, but each color blends easily and work cohesively together. I found myself using every shade in the palette all in one look because they all work so beautifully together.

3 Highlighters I'm Loving Right Now

I've been on the fence about highlighters for a long time. They are not something I gravitated towards because of my oily skin. Anything exceptionally shiny was not my friend. However, over the years the formulations have become better and surprisingly my skin has become less oily this year so I am able to wear highlighters without looking like a greaseball. Here are three that I have been using regularly and loving:

1. Tom Ford Moodlight - I pick and choose my Tom Ford items selectively. I know many people love the Tom Ford brand, but it's hit or miss with me. I swatched this highlighter/illuminating duo in store and fell in love immediately. The shimmer was just enough to create a beautiful glow, and both shades wore beautifully on my skin. The deeper shade wears well as a bronzer for me, while the opal shade is perfect for a subtle cheekbone highlight. I have actually worn this during the day to work and it is natural enough to enhance but not distract. This Tom Ford gem is definitely a hit for me.

2. Becca Cosmetics Shimmer Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop - The buzz surrounding this product was almost deafening. I bought it online sight unseen, though I already knew it was going to be bold. Swatches are all over the internet so I knew what I was in for. This is definitely for evening since it gives a strong shimmer/glitter and looks very yellow on my skin. However, I can't deny that it is stunning. The texture is very smooth and can be worn on any skin tone which is wonderful. I probably will never hit pan on it but I'm glad I have it in my collection.

3. Cle de Peau Beaute Luminizing Powder in Delicate Pink -This highlighting powder is not new, but one that has been on my wish list for a long time. I'm excited that it's finally part of my collection as it is one of the most delicate yet magnificent highlighters in my collection. This particular shade has a pale pink undertone and because of that complements my skin tone perfectly. I have been enjoying it dusted on the tops of my cheekbones, but for the weekends have been adding it over top of my blush for an added glow. And as a packaging junkie, the compact that it comes in is just as pretty to look at as the powder itself. All in all, I predict it will become a favorite very quickly.

A Bit Obsessed: June Beauty Favorites

Long time, no favorites, right?  May was actually a complete let down and no new beauty products were hitting my fancy,  (I know, I'm just as shocked as you), but I knew that if I held out long enough - and shopped long enough, I would again find things that I loved and had to share.  Annnnnnd - voila!  I tried, tested and loved in June - and my monthly beauty favorites are back in business!  Here is a look at the products that brought me back from the beauty favorites brink of extinction:

1.  Chanel Nail Polish in Azure - I think by now most of you know that I am often not the first to run out and buy a new color collection as soon as it hits stores.  I usually let it sit for a bit and if I am still intrigued (and the products are still there), I make my move.  But with this summer 2013 Chanel polish - things were different.  I saw it on many different bloggers' Instagrams and knew I had to have.  And it was love at first swipe.  This is my third Chanel polish and not a miss yet - all have been splurge worthy.

2.  Inglot AMC Face Blush in #59 - As a former makeup artist, I am ashamed to admit that I had never tried anything from Inglot.  But after recently attending The Makeup Show, I was blown away by their products - this blush being my introduction.  Not normally one for shimmer (let alone glitter), this blush imparts the most beautiful and healthy glow without any resemblance to a 13 year old glitter addict.  Perfect for the summer when paired with a bronzy look, this will also transition well into fall and winter for that chic, rosy glow.

3.   Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light - As mentioned before, it takes me a minute to get on the bandwagon so I have been admiring the Ambient Lighting powders from a distance for quite some time.  On an impulse Sephora trip (is there ever any other kind of Sephora trip????), I pulled the trigger.  The warm peachy undertone of this powder appealed to me first, and when swept on the cheeks and forehead - it gives a warmth to the skin that is less than a bronzer but more than just a pressed powder.  The only conclusion I can come to is that it's magic - makeup magic. 

4.  Becca Matte Skin Shine Proof Foundation (c/o) - A mouthful to say but a dream to wear.  After attending a fellow blogger, Danielle's Becca event - I fell in love with this brand, and their entire aesthetic.  Wearable shades and color ranges to match any and every skin tone, this is a brand that all can embrace.  While it may be hard to believe - finding shades light enough for my skin is often quite the challenge.  As soon as I applied this foundation, the color was absolutely perfect and the texture truly kept my skin matte for the day.  Summer shine doesn't stand a chance - game on.

5. H20 Sea Moss Replenishing Body Lotion Spray - Morning madness has met its match with this body lotion.  Under the name of this product should be listed its biggest selling point - "Just spray and GO!"  Truly game changing.  Most body lotion sprays I have tried in the past still leave residue on the skin that I have to rub in, and who has that kind of TIME - I have 13,000 coats of mascara to apply.  But this is like a fine mist of hydration that immediately dissolves into the skin leaving you feeling refreshed and ready to get dressed.  Use it and tell me if you don't shave 5 minutes off your time - hit that snooze button gals!

6.  Shiseido Cleansing Oil - Blah, blah, blah - I love cleansing oils more than I love my shoes (well sorta).  I feel like a broken record at this point with how much I push cleansing oils - but it's my blog and I'll cry if I want.....er...talk about new cleansing oils if I want to.  And every time I find a new a new cleansing oil I love - I have to shout it from the roof tops (or write it on my blog).  A great price point and fantastic texture that cuts right through all my makeup, this Shiseido oil has already reserved a place on my repurchase forever list.  What an honor.
