It's hard to see the exact detail from these photos but this skirt is sparkly with gold thread running throughout. It's so festive! However, it's not over the top and subtle enough to be worn past the holiday season. I'm all for special occasion outfits but I get especially excited when I can put together a look that can also be worn after the occasion is over. A fair isle sweater is a winter basic in my mind and the gold skirt can be worn with a simple black turtleneck or silk blouse for a non-holiday dinner or event. Together I think they strike the perfect balance of cozy and glam. There is also a matching turtleneck to the skirt but sadly it didn't work for me but I definitely think a monochromatic gold look could be stunning!

I'm still in a food coma from my Thanksgiving meal, but I'm thankful so much of my shopping can be done online. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving if you celebrated! Things were very relaxed and low key around here today. Stan cooked, my mom, Miles and I played (and helped occasionally) and then we all sat down to eat until we were stuffed. Yay! I couldn't help but take a picture in our holiday pjs - how cute does Miles look?!! Truth be told, we had just got him up from his nap so he wasn't full of energy yet which is why he was calmly sitting in my arms. Towards the end of taking these pics, he was pulling at the tree, squirming to get out of my arms and then took off running into the kitchen. #typical If you plan to wear as much holiday themed clothing as you can, I have you covered when it comes to pjs in this post! I found some very festive options and then some subtle options that aren't as over the top. Of course I had to add a bunch of options for baby pjs because there is nothing cuter than little ones in holiday pajamas! Most of my picks are better for baby boys (I have made it my mission since having Miles to seek out the cutest stuff for boys because it can be hard to find!), but some of the pjs would work for boys or girls.
Anyone waking up early to go shopping in-store on Black Friday?!! I prefer to do it online but if the mood strikes me, I may venture in-store (for 5 minutes to get coffee and then run out!).
I can't believe that we got a family photo with all of us looking at the camera (ok, Miles was asleep but I feel victorious that Elmo was facing the photographer LOL)! We recently had our first family photos taken and it was so fun. I debated doing it because it was only a few weeks after I gave birth and wasn't feeling great that day, but after seeing them I am so happy we did.

New Year's is often seen as a time to bring out the glam, sequins or over-the-top pieces you can only wear once a year. But frankly, I don't have any of those parties to attend so I love a more low key glam look that I can wear at home or even to a friend's house but still feel like I'm New Year's appropriate. Faux (or real) leather leggings instantly jazz up a look yet are still comfy enough to curl up on the couch or lounge around in for the evening. Pair those leggings with a statement sweater and heels and a New Year's outfit emerges. This is an outfit that can still be party ready but also be appropriate if you just want to stay in, cook a nice dinner, put on some music and relax. And while I do love a little party dress that sparkles, I probably won't rewear that as often as I will this outfit.
Since Stan is working on New Year's Eve, my mom, Miles and I will celebrate at home but I still love to get dolled up even for a night in. This look or some form of it will be my outfit of choice for the evening, probably with a red lip added as well.

I love to wear red lipstick all year round, but especially around the holidays it's the perfect accessory. Like the look I wore in the above photos, a basic black dress is so much more festive and glam with a red lip. I've talked about tons of red lipstick shades on my blog over the years, but these 5 have been staples for me. Gucci Iconic Red is no doubt one of my all-time favorite shades, and one that I have worn numerous times on the blog (it's what I am wearing in these photos). Burberry Military Red is a gorgeous full coverage formula that has more of a blue undertone than what I normally prefer, but it is still stunning when on (see it in swatches here). Tom Ford's Dylan lipstick is the most classic out of all 5, and one that I think would look great on almost any skin tone. NARS Heat Wave and Charlotte Tilbury's Tell Laura are both lipsticks that have a very orange undertone which is what I prefer. These two are bold, vibrant and really brighten up my face when wearing them (see Heat Wave here).
If you want to really go bold this season with a red lip, I highly recommend trying one of these. They are all medium to full coverage with a creamy finish and have significant staying power so you don't have to worry about it coming off after one cocktail. If you do end up trying one, please send me a pic of you wearing it. I would love to see how they look on all different skin tones!
