Bits and Pieces: Bows On Bows

photo KateSpadeBeauBag1-1.jpg photo KateSpadeBeauBag-1.jpg photo MarkusLupferSweater1.jpg photo MarkusLupferSweater.jpg photo MarkusLupferSweater2.jpgI have a confession - I am typically not a bow fan. While I consider my style feminine, I see bows as more "girly" and that isn't always the direction I want to take with my look.  But it began with my husband gifting me this Kate Spade Beau Bag, and now it has spiraled into gloves.  I can't tell you where it will stop, but I'm open to the ride.  But bows aside, the star of this look is clearly the sparkly, glittery, make-you-want-to-bedazzle-again sweater.  It was a bit of a splurge but I got it on sale so I can't complain (my wallet still can though, sigh).  And probably my best investment of the entire outfit has been this T by Alexander Wang neoprene pleated skirt.  Featured a few times on the blog (remember this and this?), I think it's truly the most flattering silhouette for most figures.  Cinched at the waist while simultaneously floating away from the hips - it's the perfect hourglass illusion.  And a red lip as the finishing touch?  100% sass approved.

Bits and Pieces: Leather On Leather

You know that feeling when you are 9 years old, and you receive a gift and cannot wait for more than 3 seconds to use it?  Well that is how I felt when my husband surprised me with this Kate Spade Beau Bag.  I took out the stuffing, threw all my purse contents inside and off I went (around the apartment, sigh).  The next morning I told him we had to go take outfit photos immediately so I could swing it around and enjoy it in the daytime.  But when I went to throw on an outfit, I shied away from something too feminine and thought it would be a great contrast to keep the outfit a touch more masculine and edgy.  So out came my DKNY coat with the moto sleeves (awesome), my faux leather leggings (more awesome), a silk blouse (necessary awesome) and my red pumps to take it off the sass meter completely.  A red lip was the last piece of the puzzle because - duh - red pumps, red lips.  Shouldn't that saying be on a t-shirt or makeup bag or something?

Coat - DKNY (similar here and here) | Blouse - Club Monaco | Leggings - Trouve via Nordstrom (similar here and here) | Pumps - Sergio Rossi (similar here and here) | Kate Spade Beau Bag (love it in this color and this color too!)
