I've really been enjoying wearing different pants styles instead of jeans recently and came across this pair and loved the silhouette. I wasn't sure they would look as good on as they do online but was so happy to see that they were so flattering! High waisted and super stretchy, they feel like you are wearing pajama pants. Ha! There are no buttons or zippers so they just pull on. The style runs quite big so I sized down and ended up going with the petite length which worked perfectly for my height (5'4"). If you are in the market for a new pair of work pants, these are such a great option!
Happy Saturday! I am sharing a quick roundup of all my outfits from Instagram over the past month. Let me know if you have any questions on sizing on any of the pieces I'm wearing.
I wore this dress on my insta-stories the other day and received so many questions about it and wanting to see the full look. The fit and silhouette of this midi dress are absolutely stunning! Because I am not that tall, some midi dresses can look dowdy on me but the fitted bodice and slit up one side make this dress so chic and more my style. If you are not that busty, the smocking on the top is incredibly supportive so no bra is needed.
The shoe MVP of the summer is definitely these clear heels from Zara. To be honest, I am really hoping the clear trend stays around because I absolutely love the look. I have worn these shoes a TON this summer (here are a few of the ways I styled them: with flared jeans, with a red jumpsuit, with mom jeans, with a white jumpsuit, with wide leg pants and with knee length denim shorts, ) and definitely plan to wear them again next year. For more of a subtle clear option, I have these sandals and love how comfortable they are.
So many things sold out quickly during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but there are still some great basics and classic pieces still in stock. I know people go right for all the exciting things and unique pieces, but now is also a great time to grab closet staples that you will need all fall and winter. Here are 15 that caught my eye:
1. Waterproof Rain Jacket - I know it's super hot out and hard to think about fall/winter clothing, but it's best to be prepared when the cold weather comes! This jacket is great for throwing on and running out the door when you need something to protect you from the cold and rain.
2. Cardigan - Most of the cardigans sold out quickly, but this slim style is still in stock in a few colors. I personally am not a fan of huge chunky cardigans, so this is definitely my type of cardigan to wear.
3. Twist front pullover - This pullover is a great piece to wear with jeans and sneakers or as workout wear with leggings to the gym.
4. Lace dress - I have a few friends that have this dress and they have gotten so much wear out of it over the years. It's a classic style that they have all year and a great silhouette for a bridal shower, baby shower, wedding, etc.
5. High waist pocket leggings - I have quite a few Zella leggings and they made their classic high waisted style with pockets this year!
6. Nude sandals - A pair of nude strappy sandals should be a staple in everyone's closet. If you already have nude covered, this style also comes in a ton of other colors as well.
7. Ankle boots - Madewell makes so many great classic boots and shoes and these are a great fall staple. Wear them with dresses or jeans/pants - they will go with almost anything in your closet.
8. Sports bra - I have this sports bra and it provides such great support for all types of activities and is so comfortable to wear.
9. Suede mule - Another classic shoe option from Madewell! These would be so cute for fall.
10. Hunter boots - If you don't have a pair of rain boots for yourself, Hunters are one of the best. I also love that you can add thick socks and wear them in the snow.
11. Over the knee boots - Now is the perfect time to splurge on a pair of OTK boots. You can wear these with dresses, skirts and jeans - they are incredibly versatile!
12. Sheath dress - This is a great workwear piece and you can even layer a turtleneck under it to make it suitable for fall and winter.
13. Faux leather moto jacket - I tried this jacket on in store (see it in this post) and was really impressed with the fit! I already have a black moto jacket or else this would have been my pick for this year.
14. V-neck cashmere sweater - It's not the most exciting piece you will ever buy, but classics like there are always needed in a good wardrobe.
15. Cozy cardigan - Everyone is crazy for the Barefoot Dreams cardigans (they truly are as soft as everyone claims) and this style is still in stock!
I think many people associate being comfortable with not looking put together or cute. And may believe that those two things cannot exist together in an outfit. I wholeheartedly disagree. There are so many ways to dress comfortably but not look messy or sloppy or dress in clothes you don't like. Wearing a t-shirt, shorts and sneakers seems like an outfit that doesn't need much thought put into it, or one that isn't fun to wear but that does not have to be the case. Graphic tees are everywhere now and can be a great way to make a comfy t-shirt more interesting. Same goes for sneakers - boring ol' athletic sneakers are not the only options out there anymore. There are a ton of printed sneakers in all patterns and colors (and all price points) that are comfortable and can elevate your outfit. Adding a hat or statement bag can be another way to make a super casual look more fashionable and chic, but not always necessary.
Try to think of your casual and comfortable looks as just as important as your work looks or evening looks and you will slowly build up a wardrobe of things you love to wear. And then no matter the occasion - a day in the park, running weekend errands, going to an amusement park, etc - you will feel just as fabulous.
I never need a reason to buy more leopard print and the selection of leopard print (and animal print in general) from the Anniversary sale was amazing! There were so many different styles and colors that I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to get. This leopard camisole was a definite must as soon as I saw it and looked great with these cropped tie-waist pants. I rounded up all my favorite options from each category and put them in the widgets below!
