Essie Fall 2014 Collection With Swatches

Essie Fall 2014 Collection with swatches on fair skin
I get excited for a lot of different nail polish launches each season, but Essie is the one brand that always seems to get it right. They consistently make classic colors that become cult favorites that all of us will wear for years and years. And I love the fact that most of the shades they release each season become permanent so you don't have to fall in love with a color and then buy 25 bottles of it because it will disappear after the season is over. This fall collection is everything I would have expected from Essie - rich deep blues and browns, two neutral shades that I can't help but love and a classic red that seems suitable for any time of the year. Below are all the swatches and corresponding names.
My personal favorite is 'Take It Outside', as I'm sure all of you guessed. Though it doesn't sound appealing, I would describe it as the perfect mushroom shade - right? A good mix of gray and beige with no shimmer. I need another neutral nail polish like I need a hole in the head but I refuse to listen to reason when it comes to nail polish.

What shade is your favorite from the collection?

Unfortunately this shade is limited edition so I don't think they are selling it online. I found mine at Bergdorf Goodman, so you may want to call your closest Chanel to see if you can find one.

JINsoon x Tess Giberson Collection With Swatches

JINsoon x Tess Giberson swatches
My JINsoon collection is now beginning to reach epic proportions. Every time she comes out with a new seasonal launch or collaboration (remember this one from last year?), I am compelled to try them all, and this new JINsoon x Tess Giberson collection is no exception. I am not going to lie and say that I am not wooed by the shiny and sparkly bottles of Chanel, Dior and Tom Ford, but frankly when it comes down to wearability, these polishes are truly some of the best around. They dry immediately and last the longest out of my entire collection of nail polishes (and I have A LOT of polishes - ooooops).

I definitely had my favorites from this launch, with my initial stand out being Heirloom, the metallic teal. It's so different and quite a conversation piece when on the nails. Melange is a chunky glitter polish that you will need extra time to remove, but the color is a muted metallic which is a nice change from those liquid metal style shades that are often too reflective for day. Farrago is probably one of the most unique colors and blends a deep aubergine with very fine gold reflective particles. I feel like this will be in contention with Nocturne for the shades I will wear the most. I love Nocturne because it is not as severe as a standard black polish, and has some dimension with it's silver metallic shine and deep concrete gray base. Pastiche is the color that will probably take me into the warmer months and could be worn all year.

Another winning collection from JINsoon, and as usual her polishes continue to wow me with their quality and long wear. If you are looking to add some additional JINsoon shades to your collection, I highly recommend Coral Peony and Blue Iris from her Botanical Flowers collection, Azurite and Epidote from her JINsoon x Tibi collection as well as her entire Color Field Collection. JINsoon polishes are available at Sephora, Nordstrom, SpaceNK and her website.

Deborah Lippmann New York Marquee Fall 2014 Collection

I'm not ready to let go of summer, but I can talk fall beauty all day long. I had a chance to try out the new shades from Deborah Lippmann's fall collection, "New York Marquee", and they are a metallic lover's dream.

The above swatches were done with just one coat so you can see how opaque the formula goes on. There is a bit of streaking as with most metallic colors, so you do have to start with a thin coat and make sure you apply evenly. But I think there is nothing more appropriate for fall then metallic shiny nails. I haven't yet worn the formula, so I can't speak to how long they wear, but as a strong Deborah Lippmann aficionado (see all my previous DL swatches here), I can imagine they will wear quite well as do all her other colors and formulas. They are now available on the Nordstrom website or Deborah Lippmann's website. Stay tuned over the next few weeks and I will be featuring them each separately for my Sunday Nailday series.

Beauty Bits: 10 Fall Nail Colors To Try

It's no secret, I love me some nail polish.  Every sunday is my special time to get my nails done and pamper myself - heck I even named an entire series of posts after it - Sunday Nailday anyone?  So while I do not change up my makeup too much, I enjoy keeping things fresh and new each season with my nails.  Spring is fun to delve into the world of pastels, summer with the bright neons and fall/winter brings out the dark and moody side to my nails.  Jewel toned polishes in both shimmer and cream finishes are what make up most of my cold weather nail game.  And today I am bringing this excitement to you with a look at some of the colors I enjoy wearing this time of year.  If I have worn it in a post before, I will give a link to the swatch.

Beauty Bits: Jin Soon Choi X Tibi Fall 2013 Collection

After purchasing the entire Jin Soon Spring collection - it was inevitable that when this Jin Soon x Tibi collaboration launched I would again need to have every color.  If this collection doesn't scream fall, I don't know what does.  The colors are deep and rich with delicate shimmer that when worn during the day is much more wearable than it seems in pictures. The texture of all the polishes is opaque with two coats and applies easily and smoothly.  The piece of the collection that truly stole my heart and sealed the purchase was the matte top coat.  I had seen similar versions come and go over the years, but none ever made me excited enough to want to buy - until this one.  I had seen it on different bloggers on Instagram (isn't that where all the best beauty research is done?!), and thought the finish was modern, chic and quite unique.  Cut to the present where I have had some time to play with the product and can report that I am absolutely in love with how it makes my nails look.  In the above pic, I used it on my thumb over the slate gray shade "Mica" and then left the same color alone with no top coat on my pinkie to show the difference.  I think the matte top coat gives such a smooth and interesting effect to the polish without dulling or minimizing the color.  Trust me when I tell you, this will be on my nails all winter long.  Matte skin, matte nails - GIVE ME THE MATTE.

The colors from thumb to pinkie finger are: Mica (with Matte Top Coat), Jasper, Epidote, Azurite, and Mica.
