3 Jelly Cleansers Worth Trying

I fell in love with jelly cleansers when Nude first releasing their Omega Cleansing Jelly (omg, do you remember NUDE skincare?! I miss them!). It was a mix between a gel and a balm and worked wonders at removing makeup while still making my skin feel plump and supple after. Since then I have seen so many more jelly cleansers pop up and I am always drawn to them. Not only is the texture appealing to me, but they always do an amazing job at removing makeup, giving my skin a deep cleanse while still keeping it nicely hydrated. There are three new jelly cleansers that I've been testing and my skin has been enjoying all 3 and I felt a blog post was in order!

1. Tatcha The Deep Cleanse - This isn't as much a jelly cleanser as the other two, but it does have a creamy gel texture so I decided to include it in this post anyways. As you can see from the swatches below, it is the thickest out of all 3 but what may not be visible are the little exfoliating beads in the formula. I wasn't expecting that and ended up loving the slight bit of exfoliation that it gave me. This one is strictly a second or morning cleanse as I don't find that it does a good job of removing makeup. For being a gel cleanser, I expected a bit of lather which it has but nothing that is too drying. In fact, my skin felt quite balanced after and with the added benefit of exfoliation, I have been using this the most in the morning because it preps my skin so well for makeup.
Swatches from left to right: Drunk Elephant, Origins and Tatcha
2. Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser - I'm currently testing out the entire line of Drunk Elephant skincare for an upcoming YouTube video I plan to do at the end of this month. This was one of the only products from the line that I didn't have so the DE team graciously sent it over for me to try. It is the thinnest texture out of all 3, and was an instant winner when it came to removing makeup. It does foam slightly but dissolves into a light milk with water and doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry afterwards.

3. Origins Cleansing Makeup Removing Jelly - As the name suggests, this cleanser is designed to be great at removing makeup. And it is. The texture is a bit thicker than the Drunk Elephant, and does not foam as much. If I had to compare it to the Drunk Elephant, I would say that this one breaks down makeup a bit quicker. It leaves my skin feeling clean, but I do need a more moisturizing milk or balm cleanser after to add a bit of moisture back into my skin.

Review: New Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser

The Eve Lom Cleanser has been a favorite of mine for years now, and it's something that I will always have on hand and use in my skincare routine. I've also used and loved the Morning Time Cleanser, which is a thick, rich balm cleanser in a tube that really helps wake up my skin and leaves it feeling soft and incredibly hydrated. The newly launched Gel Balm Cleanser was instantly on my radar and I was anxious to see if it lived up to the Eve Lom cleanser standard I had set in my mind. And I am happy to say it has!
1. Eve Lom Cleanser - While I have been using the original Eve Lom cleanser for years, I don't use it regularly in my routine. As you can see from the above picture, it has a slightly thick and grainy texture and I find it gives my skin a more deep clean with a mild exfoliation so I prefer to use 2-3x/wk after removing my makeup. I also like to use it as a treatment by applying to damp skin, letting it sit for 3-5 minutes and removing with a damp muslin cloth. This application really plumps my skin, leaving it smooth, soft and hydrated. It's been a cult classic all these years for a reason...it still delivers amazing results every single time I use it.
2. Eve Lom Gel Balm Cleanser - The first difference between the original cleanser and the new Gel Balm formula is the texture. The Gel Balm name describes it very accurately - it's a creamy balm combined with the lightweight feel of a gel. It actually manages to strike the perfect balance between rich and creamy, while still having a lightness to it that enables it to be removed effortlessly. I find that it can take off every last bit of my makeup, but I prefer to use it as a second cleanse so as to provide my skin with added hydration and comfort.

Double Cleansing Cleanser Sets

Double cleansing is an essential part of my skincare routine. In fact, it's one of the major reasons why I began to see a turnaround in my skin years ago. I only double cleanse in the evening since I'm removing makeup and dirt from the day. Typically I prefer an oil or balm-like cleanser as my first step because it cuts through my makeup, and works best for my combination skin. I learned many years ago (which made complete sense to me after someone explained it) that oil based cleansers bind better to oil thus properly cleansing the face without stripping it. Oil is essential for the skin's overall health so even though I have oily skin, using oil on my face will signal to my sebaceous glands that it doesn't need to produce anymore. I instantly began seeing fewer breakouts, less oil on my face and a healthier, more balanced complexion. Adding in the second cleansing step after removing my makeup became crucial because I was able to treat my skin with the benefits of that second cleanser. I regularly reach for a rich cream or soft gel because they help to nourish, comfort and hydrate my skin along with any additional benefits that may come from the cleansers' key ingredients. I am so excited to see brands finally selling actual double cleansing sets, and the two I have for today's post are beyond exceptional!
1. Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse - Beauty blogger and industry legend, Caroline Hirons has been speaking about the benefits of double cleansing for years and it was only a matter of time before she created her own. So in conjunction with Pixi beauty and Caroline, a solid cleansing oil and cleansing cream in one tub was born! And it is spectacular! I am already a HUGE fan of Pixi skincare (this is a staple for me), so I knew this would be a hit with my skin. The cleansing balm is solid though breaks down quite easily, removes every last stitch of makeup and emulsifies easily with water. It's a nice mix of oil and a solid so it will appeal to a wide variety of cleanser lovers. The cleansing cream side is like a big pillowy blanket for your face. The texture is fluffy, delicate and leaves my skin feeling softer than ever. My only request is that the tub be larger! I need more of each ASAP!
2. Pestle & Mortar Erase and Renew Cleansers - For those natural beauty lovers, this Pestle & Mortar double cleansing system is a definite must try. Whereas the Pixi cleansers left my skin very soft and comforted, this cleansing system gave me a fresh glow. The cleansing balm is a tad more oily and runny than the Pixi (which I love equally as much) with a slight granular texture that gives a mild exfoliation. The kit comes with a cloth to remove the cleansers and I highly recommend using it. Both remove easily with just water, but using the cloth gave my face helped remove any rough texture on my face. The Illuminating Gel cleanser is described as a gel though to me it felt like a balm with more slip. Either way, it was glorious and really left my skin radiant and bright.

Cleanser Diaries: Kypris, Aerin, Elemental Herbology and Sisley

I have 4 cleansers to share with you today that I've been testing over the past 2 months. All are quite gentle on my skin and easy to incorporate into any skincare routine. While I love products that help target certain concerns, I have been drawn to simpler and more gentle cleansers recently to nourish and calm my skin while I let the serums and strong moisturizers in my routine do their work.

1. Aerin Rose Gentle Cleanser - Not only am I a fan of her fragrances, but every skincare item I try from the Aerin line seems to always work for my skin. Most of the Aerin products seem to be geared towards calming and nourishing the skin which is why I go back to them over and over (I use this oil regularly and am currently testing this night cream). The Rose Gentle Cleanser name perfectly describes the product - it is a cream cleanser that hydrates, soothes and calms my skin with a scent of rose infused throughout. Recently I have been going hard with a lightening serum and a retinol cream now that we are transitioning into fall, so I like to have a gentle cleanser in my routine to comfort my skin.

2. Sisley Gentle Cleansing Gel - Cleansing Gels can be hit or miss with me since many can dry out my skin leaving it tight and uncomfortable. Since I have had wonderful luck with using other Sisley cleansers (this foaming one is beautiful as is this cleansing milk), I was confident this gel would be great on my skin. Initially I felt it was going to foam when adding water, but was pleasantly surprised to see is turn into a lightweight cream that left my skin feeling extra clean and fresh but without the dreaded tightness or dryness. I would recommend this more for combination to oily skin types rather than for someone with drier or more sensitive skin.
3. Kypris Cleanser Concentrate - After falling in love with this serum and this serum from Kypris, I knew my skin would be in good hands with their cleanser concentrate. It's a lightweight cream that feels cooling on the skin. I like it best used as a morning cleanse with dry hands and a dry face. I massage it in for 30-60 seconds, wet it to emulsify slightly and then use a warm cloth to remove. It gives me a slight exfoliation with the cloth but the cleansing cream helps to hydrate my skin and leaves it feeling smooth and supple. With ingredients of moringa, probiotics and prickly pear, this cleanser is wonderful at helping balance the skin and is gentle enough for any and all skin types (always patch test first though). Annnnd Kypris continues to amaze me - such a great line.

4. Elemental Herbology Purify & Soothe Cleansing Balm - As I have said many times before, cleansers are the first products I like to test from a line that is new to me. So that is exactly what I did when I was introduced to Elemental Herbology. I went right for their Cleansing Balm to gauge how it worked before deciding on if I will move forward with the line. The texture is rich and thick but not as oily as many of my cleansing balms in jars or pots. While I have used it to remove makeup, I find that it did a better job as a second cleanse or morning cleanse. A cloth is a must when rinsing it off, and my skin is left soft and plump feeling. If you are wanting to add a cleansing balm into your routine, but prefer one that is not as oily - this may be a great option for you.
Top: Aerin Rose Gentle Cleanser, Bottom: Elemental Herbology Cleansing Balm
I am not typically someone that gravitates towards natural or organic skincare, but I have had such a great experience with all the brands that I have discovered lately. Looking forward to incorporating more into my routine!

Cleanser Diaries: Niod, Cle de Peau Beaute, 111Skin and Alpha H

Sanskrit Saponins review
I've been in cleanser testing mode this past summer. I had quite a few that I rotated into my routine over the past couple months and 4 of them stood out to me the most. Here are my thoughts on my each.
Sanskrit Saponins review
1. Niod Sanskrit Saponins - The buzz is REAL regarding this brand. There are so many reviews surrounding the Niod skincare line, and I am slowly coming to understand why. I have already reviewed their Flavanone Mud on the blog, and was excited to add this popular cleanser to my routine. Technically it's a cleansing balm, but has a more unique texture than what I am used to with similar balms. It has a slight whipped feeling, but is easy to massage into the skin. I have been using this as a second cleanse, and find that it works miracles at helping decongest, balance out the oils on the skin as well as prevent and treat breakouts. Next up on my list to try from this brand are these serums!

2. Cle de Peau Beaute Cleansing Cream Oil - While this texture is smooth like a cream, it has the slip of an oil and does an absolute stellar job of removing makeup. It has a light and fluffy texture so I prefer to use it as a second cleanse, massage into the skin, let it sit for 5-7 minutes and then remove with a warm cloth. It's a decadent formula but one of the softest textures I have felt in a long time. Completely splurgeworthy.
Alpha H Balancing Cleanser review
3. Alpha H Balancing Cleanser - While I love an oil or rich balm for a first cleanse or to remove my makeup, I gravitate towards a rich creamy cleanser a few times a week as a second cleanse. The added moisture helps to nourish my skin and keep it balanced. This Alpha H cleanser contains no soap or drying agents and is great when my skin is feeling extra dehydrated or irritated. I tend to add this into my routine 4x/week and definitely plan on increasing that as the colder weather begins to come.

4. 111Skin Exfoliating Cleanser - Cleansing milks and creams are a staple for me as a second cleanse most of the week, but I do save 2-3 days for a gel or mild exfoliating cleanser. 111Skin is a new brand to me so naturally I wanted to test out a cleanser first. If I have never used a brand before, I will always go for a cleanser or mask as my first introduction, and then if I am liking the product(s) I will venture into serums and moisturizers. Upon first trying this, I had my normal hesitation because the texture is a gel and I am always nervous it will be too 'foamy', thus drying the heck out of my skin. I massaged this into my face and waited for any sighting of foam and instead it was smooth, lightweight and extremely comfortable. The cleanser contains various exfoliating acids so my skin immediately felt smoother, and after using in my routine for a number of weeks - I could see a definite difference in texture and overall tone.

My Recommendations From Pixi Beauty Skincare

Pixi skincare review

My love for Pixi skincare began with the Glow Tonic. It's a gentle exfoliating toner that can be used daily and I saw immediate results. It is now a product that I keep in my collection all the time and never allow myself to run out. My interest in the brand piqued from there and I was anxious to try as much skincare from Pixi beauty as I could. Here are my favorites from the brand:

1. Pixi Glow Tonic - What started my love affair with the entire brand - the Pixi Glow Tonic. It's a gentle exfoliating toner with glycolic acid that is gentle enough to be used daily. Even when my skin is at its most sensitive, I can use this. It never fails me and I recommend it to any and everyone I can.

2. Pixi Lash Nourish Makeup Remover Pads - After removing my makeup, I sometimes find there is still some remnants of mascara left on my lashes. I tried these pads as a quick final step to see if it would take away those stubborn last bits of mascara, and it was amazing. I even began using them to remove all of my eye makeup because my lashes and eye area felt so soft and conditioned after. They have become a travel staple for me as well because of how easy they are to pack.
Pixi skincare review
3. Pixi Glow Tonic To-Go - I love the Glow Tonic but longed for a pad form so I could travel with it more easily. I was in Target and saw these and grabbed them immediately! They are the same strength as the liquid toner, but I actually prefer to use a pad instead of liquid on a cotton round. I figured they would give the same exfoliation but I actually find these to give a slightly stronger exfoliation than the original Glow Tonic. I recommend a patch test just to make sure your skin can tolerate.
Pixi skincare review
Top: Mud Cleanser, Bottom: Mud Mask
4. Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser - My skincare routine is never complete without a good mud cleanser to help with cleaning out my skin and detoxifying my pores. This cleanser has a small amount of glycolic acid so it helps to exfoliate the skin while giving it a deep clean. Most of my previous mud cleansers have a slightly grainy feel which can irritate my skin, but this manages to be quite creamy leaving my skin feeling soft yet not stripped or dry.

5. Pixi Glow Mud Mask - Compared to other mud masks in my collection or one I've tried in the past, this one is quite gentle thankfully. In addition to the kaolin clay which helps to purify the skin, it also contains aloe vera and ginseng which helps balance and soothe the skin. I usually need to follow up mud masks with a hydrating mask to help put the moisture back into my skin, but that is not the case with the Pixi Glow Mud Mask. It leaves my face fresh, glowing, hydrated with the appearance of much smaller pores.
Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm review
6. Pixi Nourishing Cleansing Balm - While the mud cleanser is typically a once a week or as needed product for my skin, this Nourishing Cleansing Balm is something I can use daily. I love using it as a first cleanse to remove my makeup. If you like a cleansing balm, but don't want one that is too runny or oily, this is perfect option for you. It's quite thick and breaks down to an oil once on the face, but the texture is pleasant enough to not bother someone that doesn't like the feel of a greasy cleanser on their face. (I, of course, love a greasy cleanser LOL)
Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum review
7. Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum - Most of the Pixi skincare I have gravitated towards is more in the cleansing, toning or masking categories, but this Hydrating Milky Serum was an instant hit. It isn't too thick so my face doesn't feels suffocated, but it's rich enough to do the job. It absorbs quickly (though it's not immediate), and my skin really responds well to it. I love it in the morning before I put on my makeup because my face looks plumper and more supple after using the serum, and any makeup I apply just glides on.

Cleanser Review: Kate Somerville, IS Clinical and Colleen Rothschild

My favorite products to test - cleansers! I finally had the chance to try three cleansers that have been on my wish list for a long time. All are quite different - from foam, to gel and then a balm - there is something for everyone's preference in this post.

1. iS Clinical Cleansing Complex - It's rare that you find a cleanser which is both effective at fighting breakouts, yet still gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin types. I had heard wonderful things about this cleanser before ever trying it, so it had a lot to live up to. Thankfully it really impressed me and my skin has loved using it. It is a thin, watery gel texture that foams slightly but never enough to dry out my skin. It helps to retexturize, resurface and prevent breakouts with white willow bark, yet has numerous antioxidants that help to heal and soothe the skin at the same time. I love this as a second cleanse, and found that is has done wonders to help speed up the healing process from old acne scars. Up next, I am currently testing this other top seller by iS Clinical which many rave about for helping treat fine lines, redness, acne and hyperpigmentation.
2. Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser - While the iS Clinical Cleansing Complex is great for daily use, I prefer to keep this ExfoliKate Cleanser for a more intensive treatment 1-2x/week. It does foam up more than most cleansers I have in my collection, but my skin seems to respond very well to this. Unlike the original ExfoliKate, this is not as granular as I imagined, but has a more creamy texture which helps to hydrate my skin while also exfoliating. My skin feels softer and any rough texture virtually disappears - and as I find with so many of her products, my skin looks radiant and fresh after using. It's very different from this cleanser that I have fallen in love with from Kate Somerville, but I find that each serves a great purpose in my skincare regimen.

3. Colleen Rothschild Radiant Cleansing Balm - It's surprising that it took me so long to finally try this cleansing balm from Colleen Rothschild since I have seen it all over social media with rave reviews. Though I am a fan of super oily and rich balms, it's nice to change it up now and then. This balm as you can see from above is thick and buttery but not as greasy or oily as others I regularly use (this one is a holy grail). It breaks down my makeup easily and can even get off any stubborn mascara that I may be wearing (that is always the true test - mascara, amiright?!). I definitely need to use a washcloth or muslin cloth when removing, but it leaves my skin feeling soft, supple and incredibly hydrated. For additional Colleen Rothschild products to try, I have been loving this as a daily mist after cleansing and this oil-free moisturizer for the warm weather. AND...Colleen Rothschild is giving 20% off to all A Little Bit etc readers from 6/1-6/8. Use code: LITTLEBIT20 to receive 20% off the entire site. Happy shopping!

Review: Kate Somerville Goat Milk Collection

Review of the new Kate Somerville Goat Milk Collection.
I have been anxiously awaiting the release of additional products to the Goat Milk collection and was so thrilled to see a cleanser and eye cream as part of the new launch! I have been using the old Goat Milk moisturizer for awhile and loved how hydrating it was, yet never greasy. Here are my thoughts on all the products in the collection:
Review of the new Kate Somerville Goat Milk Collection.
1. Kate Somerville Goat Milk Eye Balm - I have a ton of eye creams in my collection, but frankly this is one of the only stick balms. Initially I was worried it would feel greasy or slimy under the eye (we all know by now I am quite judgey during my first impressions with products), but after the first swipe I fell intensely in love with it. It felt cooling, soothing and calming to my under eye area, and find that it does wonders for puffiness especially in the morning when I first wake up. During my recent road trip, I would actually keep it on my bedside and apply it in the morning to help soothe my eyes (I wake up with them puffy and sensitive many mornings). I can see myself keeping this in my bag when traveling because it's a great touch up product to help instantly hydrate under my eyes.
Review of the new Kate Somerville Goat Milk Collection.
2. Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream - There has definitely been a divide on opinions of this new Goat Milk moisturizer formula. I happen to fall into the "like" camp and this new formula still works really well for my skin. It continues to hydrate intensely and does wonders when my skin is feeling sensitive or irritated. However, I used to prefer the old formula as my morning moisturizer under my makeup, but with the new release I save it for evenings mostly. I can get a bit shiny during the day when using this one, which is why I like to save it for my nighttime routine. That being said, it is still a staple in my skincare collection and helps to replenish any moisture loss I had during the day and I wake up with incredibly soft, smooth and glowing skin.
Review of the new Kate Somerville Goat Milk Collection.
3. Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser - I know it's a bit early, but this cleanser has already made its way into my favorites. The texture is one of the smoothest, decadent yet effective balms I have tried in a long time. I prefer to use it as a second cleanse because I don't want to waste it on removing makeup, BUT I have to say it does a phenomenal job at it. I can get off almost all of my makeup (some mascaras still require an oil) with this cleanser. During the course of my trip, I have been using it as a treatment by massaging it into the skin and leaving it on for 3-5 minutes, then removing with a warm washcloth. I have found that my skin responds so well to this technique - afterwards it looks radiant, fresh, hydrated and incredibly even. I test out a ton of cleansers, but there are only a select few that I will choose to repurchase. THIS will be on my repurchase list for sure.

6 Products To Help Hydrate the Skin

I can use all the heavy duty anti-aging products that I want, but if my skin is still dehydrated I will not get the results that I want. I have found that when my skin is adequately hydrated, it looks younger, plumper and more radiant. Of course there are other factors that can contribute to keeping skin hydrated such as reducing stress, getting enough sleep, drinking enough water and even taking proper supplements, but from a skincare perspective I keep a majority of my morning and evening routines focused on hydration. Here are some products that I have been testing over the winter that I really enjoyed for helping maintain the moisture levels in my skin:
1. Darphin Intral Cleansing Milk - I love a good oil or balm cleanser to remove my makeup, but for a second cleanse I often reach for a cleansing milk as a great way to nourish the skin and ensure the cleansing process isn't stripping the skin. This Darphin cleanser is incredibly creamy yet gentle and leaves my skin feeling calm and soothed. In addition to using it as a traditional cleanser, I like to apply it generously and leave it on for a few minutes as a hydrating treatment.

2. Darphin Hydraskin Essential Emulsion - Typically hydrating or moisturizing products are seen as heavy or rich in texture, but I find that some of the most lightweight creams can enrich my skin the most. This Darphin moisturizer has a texture that combines both a cream and a gel and would be great for either winter or summer. It has the richness needed to nourish the skin in the winter, yet is still light enough to feel comfortable on the skin during the warmer months. I love this as a daytime moisturizer and find that it wears beautifully under makeup because it keeps my skin hydrated without increasing shine throughout the day.

3. First Aid Beauty Hydrating Serum - This. Serum. From just the look of it, you can already guess that it is like a shot of water for the skin. It's deceptively thicker than it looks on camera and only one small pump is good to cover the entire face. I find that if I use too much, it can feel too heavy or tacky on the skin. That being said, my skin has been loving this serum since the first day I used it. My skin feels better (less tight, soothed) and looks better (more balanced) while using. Because of it's tendency to be a bit tacky, I prefer to use this at night or on the weekends if I am not wearing makeup. However, the results of this serum far outweigh any texture issues - I would recommend this for anyone looking to add in a moisturizing serum to their routine.
4. Tatcha Overnight Memory Serum Concentrate - Sadly the picture above does not do this texture justice. I posted a video to my Instagram showing how unique it is - watch that here. See? It's hard to look away from, isn't it? LOL. Many people asked me if it was similar to The Body Shop Bouncy Sleeping Mask and in theory it is, but I found this concentrate to be much thinner in texture with a more gel-like consistency when you break it up on the skin. Additionally I felt that the Tatcha concentrate gave me a stronger boost of hydration, whereas The Body Shop mask delivered more on firmness. I have enjoyed using this alone after I have cleansed and toned. If I wanted to address any other concerns, I could layer a serum under this but this concentrate did a fantastic job of acting as both a serum and moisturizer.

5. Sisley Express Flower Gel Mask - It's no wonder Sisley is known worldwide for their masks - they are truly some of the best around. I have been using this one for the past few years and it's one of my favorite masks to help nourish and calm my skin. It's decadence in a tube. And this one is just as luxurious. There are very few products that can hydrate my skin to a visible difference nearly instantaneously (this sheet mask is another one of those instant miracle products), but this mask manages to do the impossible. I think they should rename this Sisley Express Flower Gel Infusion rather than mask because that's exactly what it feels like it's doing - infusing my skin with moisture. Truly splurge-worthy.

6. La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Mist - I'm a total mist gal. I love using them in my skincare routine, I love using them throughout the day - I exercise my right to mist anywhere and everywhere. This Thermal Spring Water mist is delicate in application (no sudden heavy bursts of water from the nozzle #rude) and delicate in feel. I particularly like using this if my skin is feeling irritated or sensitive as it is calming to the skin. This may sound a bit silly but I find it to be calming to my energy as well when I spray myself with it. I close my eyes and mist away giving myself a mini 5 second break from the day. Cupcakes can also do that but there is less guilt afterwards with a mist.

Jelly Cleansers

I am already a HUGE cleansing oil and balm fan. I use one every single night either as my first or second cleanse. So you can imagine my excitement when a new, similar yet different texture began popping onto my radar - cleansing jellys! There is this one that I have used for awhile and swear by, and this one that smells incredible, so my interest was instantly piqued when these two new cleansers recently launched. Glossier's Milky Jelly Cleanser has a name alone that makes me want to put it on my face, and then Yes To Coconuts Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser sounds like a mini facial in a tube.
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser top, Yes to Coconuts Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser bottom

1. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - I have been a fan of the Glossier range for about a year, and even included this product from them in my 'Best of Beauty 2015' video. This is the first cleanser from the line and they launched with a winner. The texture is incredibly smooth and creamy, mixing the feeling of a milk and balm into one product. I enjoy using this as my second cleanse and rubbing it in for a light massage. While I have used it as a first cleanse and to remove makeup, I found that it was able to break down most of my makeup except for certain mascaras that may be long-wearing or water resistant. Because of this, I preferred it as a second cleanse, and more recently as my morning cleanse. My skin is left hydrated and noticeably more supple, which always leads to a smoother makeup application. And a smooth makeup application ensures a better day, amiright?!

2. Yes to Coconuts Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser - Just like the Milky Jelly Cleanser, the name of this cleanser lured me in immediately. Hydrating and melting together in a description sounds delightful. Whereas the Glossier was more of a morning cleanser or second evening cleanse, this Yes to Coconuts cleanser has solidified a place in my evening routine as a first cleanse. It does a phenomenal job of removing makeup, while simultaneously making my skin feel incredibly soft and smooth. As with all balm and oil cleansers, I apply this with dry hands to a dry face and the first thing to stand out to me was the slight warming sensation that I felt! Not an irritating warming, but a calming warming that made my skin feel relaxed. It immediately cut through my makeup and even my stubborn eye makeup came off effortlessly. It emulsifies to a soft milk when adding water, but I do prefer to remove it with a washcloth rather than just my hands. One final bonus is that the price point is under $10 which makes it a steal! I haven't found too many drugstore cleansers that appeal to me, but this one will definitely be going on the repurchase list for sure.

Review: Sunday Riley Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm and The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleansing Balm

Nothing makes me happier than trying out new (or new to me) cleansing balms. Between cleansing balms and cleansing oils, they are my favorite step in my skincare routine. I had been hearing wonderful things about The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser for quite some time so I was thrilled to finally be able to get it on my face. Sunday Riley's Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm was just recently released, but I had heard about it earlier last year from many UK beauty bloggers. Since I am already a huge Sunday Riley skincare fan (this serum IS as good as everyone says, and this oil is amazing), I had huge hopes for this launch. Here are my thoughts on each cleanser:
1. The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser - The name alone made me want to try this cleanser. Carrot Butter - hello! Get on my face. The oilier and thicker a cleanser is, the more I want to try it. This is incredibly rich, buttery and oily and feels wonderful on the skin. It did a stellar job at removing makeup, though it has quite a steep price tag so I tend to save it for my second cleansing step so I can really allow the natural ingredients like rosemary, carrot, shea butter and chamomile to get directly onto my skin. It works great for my oily skin, though the richness of the formula would make it ideal for someone with dry skin as well. I apply it with dry hands to a dry face and massage it in for 30-60 seconds. If my skin is feeling irritated or dry, I can leave it on for a few minutes as an extra treatment. Typically though, I massage it in and then use a damp cloth to remove it. It does emulsify into a gentle milk, but I have found that I definitely need a cloth to help remove all residue. Just using water is not enough to fully dissolve the cleanser, but I enjoy the added step of using a wash cloth to give a slight exfoliation. Afterwards my skin is left smooth, hydrated and incredibly calm. A perfect addition to a winter skincare routine.
2. Sunday Riley Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm - Another hit from Sunday Riley (though honestly, I feel she can do no wrong with her skincare)! Though the usage does specify that it can be used to remove makeup, I preferred to use it as a second cleanse. It did get off most of my foundation, but with certain really stubborn eye makeup, I did have to break out a stronger cleansing oil. The texture is a bit more gritty (not like a scrub, but not as buttery as a typical balm), so it felt a bit more exfoliating to me which I loved! The instructions also advise using it as a treatment mask. I leave it on the skin for 15-20 minutes and found that it really gave my skin a nice added boost of hydration. As with most of my cleansing balms, I applied this with dry hands to a dry face and massage in for 30-60 seconds. It does emulsify to a milk, but as with The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser, I needed a cloth to remove it. My skin definitely felt smooth, plump and hydrated after, but it seems to have more exfoliating properties to it which made my skin more glowy and radiant than other cleansing balms. I like to use it 3-4/x since it delivers such strong results for me, and my skin has seemed much less oily when using it regularly. I do think it would be great for all skin types, even sensitive because of its soothing essential oils and chamomile. Sunday Riley continues her skincare winning streak in my eyes with this new launch. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with for 2016!
