An Easy Summer Dress

Though I loathe humidity, I am still a warm weather gal. Mainly because it makes getting dressed so much easier. A dress, sandals, bag and I'm out the door. I've never been a huge pants fan (though I realize I have to have some in my wardrobe), so when spring and summer arrive I am all about the dresses and skirts. I've always been a big GAP fan, but they have been hit or miss over the past few years. Sadly, I find them to be more of a miss in the winter, yet a hit in the summer. They make some really easy and versatile pieces that I end up having for years and years. I picked up this denim dress recently and loved the fit. The hourglass shape is one of my favorite shapes because its flattering on almost any figure. Truth be told, I didn't love the neckline of the dress, but once I added the scarf, it grew on me. What really sold me on the dress was how comfortable it was and I knew I would be pulling it out 5 years later and still feeling happy I purchased it. I told you a few weeks ago that I would be wearing these Schutz sandals all summer long and I was not kidding. I actually had to force myself to wear something else recently because I was going strong 5 days in a row with them. Whoops. And for those of you wondering, yes, I will stay this pale all season long. Pale is the new tan. (no, it's not but it feels better to tell myself this)

Hanging On To Summer

I won't miss the humidity of summer, but I can't say I am completely ready to begin transitioning my closet. This past weekend it was a bit chilly and overcast, but I still threw on some shorts, sandals and a tee for wandering around Dumbo, Brooklyn. I am not the biggest expert in layering which is why I probably prefer summer clothes a bit more. It seems easier to pull together a complete look without having to add 15,000 different pieces. While I always admire the bloggers that can accessorize the heck out of an outfit, I tend to like keeping things  simple. Shoes, clothes, bag and I'm out the door. If I wear jewelry, it's typically one piece and adding sunglasses is something I do occasionally. They always rub off my makeup anyways which frustrates me! I know I can't delay the inevitable but that doesn't stop me from hoping we can get a few more weeks out of summer clothes.
