I understand the weather is still in the 80's and many people are holding onto Summer's leg like some pitiful toddler being dragged across the floor begging her not to go - but if our adolescent years taught us anything it is - be prepared! Oh - and social studies was a total waste of time. Seriously - I have not used it once. But being nominated for the "Best Dressed" superlative was, like, totally defining. All my scholarly efforts however, were not lost and are now used for the betterment of all closet-kind. Closets that need to be equipped to withstand season transitions, trend trials and tribulations and an active social calendar. Your wardrobe should act as a sort of fashion conveyor belt slowly moving you from season to season, with minimal interruption and distraction. As soon as that first chilly night falls - you will be happy to have that AllSaints pullover to throw on and keep you chic warm (being regular warm sucks). And though you will not cease all pedicure activities - your polish choices may be a tad more subdued since they will be tucked away in those J.Crew ankle booties. That Helmut Lang jersey dress is practically the poster child for season transition - mock t-neck yet sleeveless, lightweight jersey in a deep charcoal grey. Hello? You are practically gliding your ass right into Fall like a champ! Throw on that Vince Camuto trench and Jimmy Choos and work/after work/after-after work is covered. A tweed pencil skirt and coated skinny jeans are your staples that will work with almost any tank, blazer, sweater that you pair with it - and when the wind really begins to pick up and good hair days are 24/7, that Etro cape will be just the finishing touch you need to really give Fall a welcome. It's so close I can almost smell all those Pumpkin-spiced, cider-laced, cinnamon-dusted latte thingys at Starbucks. I mean, who the heck can resist those? No. One.

Beauty Bits: Wipe the Day Away
I rarely dedicate an entire post to just one beauty product that I am using, because there is too much to talk about to give the spotlight to just one item. But.....I recently bought these in a I-have-no-self-control/weak moment/rainy day shopping trip at Sephora (remember that and remember my Viddy of it?), and well they have just tickled my fancy and I felt the world needed to know. The world! (Mom - that would be you so listen up) I have a been there/done that attitude about makeup wipes and often just purchase any ol' pack because my cleanser is really the one doing all the work. Slacker wipes. This is not the case when referring to these Ole Henricksen Truth To Go Wipes - they actually hold their weight in the cleansing ring. Upon first opening - the most prominent feature of them is their intoxicating orange vanilla scent, which seems almost intensified by the visual cue of their packaging. Someone in Marketing got a gold star for that one. As if the scent wasn't reason enough to love them (my you are a demanding bunch), they are chock full of those ingredients that all those TV dermatologists talk about on GMA - Vitamin C, micro-algae and essential fatty acids and you always tune out in favor of drinking the milk in your cereal. Well I am sure they do lotsa good schtuff to my face, but let's talk about what I actually saw over the past month. To tout the already great cleansing power that they had in taking off my mask, I mean makeup, they also left my skin suprisingly brighter and more radiant. Directions suggest wiping in upward circular motions (like who has the kind of dexterity) and well, I did the best that I could - but afterwards my skin always hydrated and smooth, unlike many wipes that I use which leave my skin tight and uncomfortable after. No bueno. Looks like what happens on a rainy day stays in my bathroom for good. Note to self.

Bits and Pieces: Maxi Love
I am not sure what I am more proud to show off, my great maxi dress or my great hair day. Well either way, they are both the feature of this post - and when you have petulant and uncompromising curly hair that you must tame every morning, you appreciate the rare moments when it actually behaves. Maybe it was influenced by the dress and felt it needed to be on its best behavior. I certainly was. There are certain outfits in my wardrobe that when worn, make me act a little bit better. I said a little not a lot - a leopard can't ever really change their spots now, can they? I feel at my utmost summery-est when wearing this Kenneth Cole maxi dress. Though it does have a slightly more formal feel then my other maxi number, I still enjoy wearing it for work or play as it is probably one of the most comfortable dresses I own. Now if you could reach through the computer screen and touch the fabric, you would find it to be a silky Lycra texture with some weight to it. It hangs at just the right length so that it does not dust along the streets as I walk - and in NYC that is a necessity as it may just become radioactive after coming in contact with all the street filth. A sandal is still my shoe choice for the maxi dress - as I do find it odd when paired with heels, unless the dress is too long for you and your heels give you what the good Lord couldn't - a few extra inches. I felt this was a proper farewell outfit to Summer and all the good times we had. Wait - who am I kidding - Summer was sorta bitchy and waged war on my hair with all her humidity antics. But nonetheless - I appreciate the opportunity to parade around in numbers like these. So I guess I can call a truce with Summer - it's never good to hold a fashion grudge.

Beauty Bits: How My Face Should Look For Fall
Summer never gets a thank-you note from me for the sheer fact that my makeup is almost non-existent during those 3+ months. Foundation melting, skin sweating, mascara running - my face is not amused. Not. Amused. And no matter how much I "summer-proof" my makeup from Mother Nature's bitchy self, it still manages to disappoint me. Now the same cannot be said for Fall - crisp weather, low humidity, leaves turning color and fancy people calling it "foliage", it is a recipe for makeup perfection. And don't think I won't be sitting at my desk at work with either my thumb or eyeliner nestled in between my lips recreating a fall campaign reminiscent of the above kind. Perhaps a stroll by Central Park may find me lounging on a bench, full face adorned, delicately staring in no particular direction, or perhaps applying lipstick over and over again though my lips are full of color. And I may be none the wiser to the look of my ridiculous antics, but my makeup will be fierce, with a capital F. There is the occasional fear that sparks in the hearts of pale-skinned girls such as myself when faced with a dark makeup collection - but I say, go boldly into the dark - and just tone that shit down. Dab, blot, blend will be your morning mantra when creating your Fall face. Strong eyes, a bold lip, daring brows or sculpted cheeks - pick just one feature that you want to exploit and make the rest of your face take a back seat. Now that we have had our lesson for today, class - it's time for recess! Let's go shop!

Friday Fancies: Pencil Me In.....
....for being Fall fabulous with these numbers. It must be said how much I adore the pencil skirt - the silhouette, the versatility, the polish. If I died tomorrow (probably of a heart attack caused by over excitement about fall fashion), I would want to come back as a pencil skirt. Oh and my dog because he has the best life, but first and foremost a knee length, fitted, divine creation of the skirt variety. I felt the above choices were not only to die for, but displayed a sort of mantra for how one should approach fall fashion. A little jacquard (or tweed, I ain't mad at cha for either), a little print (it's not just for summer, ladies) and a lot of black jersey, black wool or any black fabric you deem appropriate to grace your derriere. And if the pencil skirt is the bee's knees, what pray tell should go with it? A silk blouse, a turtleneck, or a blazer and tee for starters - and then let your creativity run wild with a wool sweater or striped top if the mood strikes you. You (or I for that matter) can do no wrong in a pencil skirt - it's the equivalent of fashion immunity. Is there anything better? I think not.

Beauty Bits: The Eyes Have It
No, your eyes are not deceiving you - I currently have 6 mascaras in my makeup rotation. Why have one when you can have six? Or seven? Or ten? Technically, it is research for my blog, as I selflessly must sacrifice my face, lashes, skin and body for any sartorial and beauty questions that my readers may have. So if you sit on that and let it marinate - you could deduce that I need to do this for the greater good of mankind. It's actually quite surprising I have not been canonized yet - all in due time my friends, all in due time. A Little Bit etc - the patron saint of blogging, kinda has a nice ring to it, ya know? Now, where was I? Lashes - yes! I tend to prefer quite thick, full and dramatic lashes, so I am always drawn to a denser formula with a brush that resembles an angry porcupine. Given the opportunity to try subtle, more natural looking formulas recently, I have quickly come to appreciate the need for a mascara wardrobe - since not every day can be a stiletto, little black dress, glam fest. (still pouting over that fact) Variety is the spice of life - why shouldn't this apply to mascaras? It should, and it does for me - case in point:
1. Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill - this has to be my favorite mascara currently - as the brush is incredibly porcupiney (yes, I just made it a word), and the formula dances between thick without being too thick and wet without being too wet. It's the goldilocks of my mascaras. Just right.
2. Eyeko London Curvy Brush Mascara - I reviewed this on ThisThatBeauty some time ago, and fell in love with the delicate nature of this product. Used as a base or on its own, it does a tremendous job of lengthening, separating and curling. The Brits obviously know their mascara.
3. YSL Mascara Singulier - once again a shocker for the eyes - intense volume, jet black and great at grabbing even the tiniest of lashes and coating them with mascara - how nice to include everyone. A mascara that cares.
4.Votre Vu Eiffel Power Mascara - the pun in the name gets me every time *giggling*. A volumizing style brush, but a slightly lighter formula. The result is often full, separated lashes without any added drama. I appreciate a look with dialed down drama. And I appreciate alliteration.
5. Lancome Hypnose Drama - it must be said that this was my first Lancome mascara ever purchased, (hanging head in shame) but it certainly won't be my last. Great brush, great formula, great look - big, bold and dramatic. Cue Angelina Jolie's right leg. Boom.
6. Maybelline Colossal Volume Express - sounds like a train that I wanna ride. Again - full lashes with lots of drama. Alllll aboard?!
You know where there are also tons of cool makeup pics - my INSTAGRAM! Get on that and follow me - I'm @alittlebitetc, duh. There have been rumors that the most adorable black pug is also featured on my feed - but you would have to check it out for yourself. I'm not one to gossip.

Beauty Bits: Scent of a Woman
Well as evidenced in my prior week post, we all know what I am wearing on my face, now let's talk about what I'm wearing on my skin - or for rather rudimentary folks - what do I smell like if you sat next to me on a crowded train? I don't typically shop for fragrance, but simply find a few that I appreciate and purchase, wear, repeat. Many find interest in the notes of a fragrance, seeking ones that contain certain ingredients that their discerning palette and nose can appreciate. I am much more cave-woman like in my fragrance purchases. Me see fragrance. Me smell fragrance. Me wear fragrance. Me like or not like fragrance. And that my friends is the science behind my mensa-level beauty brain. However, my true agenda behind this post is actually to acquire new fragrance recommendations from my readers, but for now I will divulge my scents du jour. Let's explore (starting from the back left and moving forward)
1. Stella McCartney - I have been wearing this scent for many years - its floral, light and extremely easy to wear. Almost undetectable once on - I will never be invading your personal space with this scent.
2. YSL Parisienne - While I am not a fan of the classic YSL Paris fragrance, this updated and dare I say - hipper - version is better all around.
3. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb - I move through this slowly, as it can invade your personal space if I wear too much. I appreciate the innovative scent that seems to stand out in a fragrance world of same-ness.
4. YSL Belle D'Opium - Again, not a fan of the classic YSL Opium, but this is my only spicy fragrance that I simply adore for winter.
5. Fresh Sugar EDP - Like a burst of citrus and sugar on your skin - perfect for spring and summer - I could wear this everyday is I had to. But I don't have to because the US is a beauty democracy and I will do what I want.....with my fragrances.
6. Fresh Sugar Lychee EDP - Very similar to it's sister Fresh Sugar - keep the family together!
7. Lolita Lempicka - This falls into the category of love/hate fragrances. I believe it has notes of licorise, which always sparks a good jelly bean debate. Noone is ever on the fence about this fragrance - I happen to love it, you may hate it. To-may-toe. To-mah-toe.
So there you have it, a waft of me. Now let's talk about you - what are you wearing and what should I be adding to my collection? Tweet me (@alittlebitetc) or comment below so I can smell like you perhaps, barring the fact that it passes my rigorous testing standards.

Bits and Pieces: Dressed Up in Shorts
I know what you all are thinking - is she in shorts, AGAIN? Yes, yes I am. I have had prior deliberations on my affinity for shorts a few posts ago, wondering how to pull off polished in a non-pants, non-skirt fabrication, but my pride abounds with this above look. A silky textured short and a peplum-like silhouette courtesy of a blousy tank and belt, made for a perfect "casual Friday" look this past week. Paired with my new shoe crush as discussed here, I feel the pointy toe and patent leather dresses it up a smidge so that my "casual Friday" edges slightly towards - still maintaining my weekly office attire dignity. The ballerina like hair do? Courtesy of a non-wash day, and my hesitant foray into the world of dry shampoo. And what would an outfit post in the summer time be without my ever trusted, pasty, pale, alabaster skin. (Throwing in alabaster makes me feel better about my inability to tan - like I'm some disney princess) This whole shorts thing is starting to grow on me. I suppose almost any fashion choice can be styled to reach your desired comfort and polish level - except overalls. And crocs. And clear lucite, stripper heels. You are on your own with those.

Beauty Bits: On My Face
"What is on your face?" - a thought I commonly have when meeting with or talking to people throughout the day. Often this sentiment is reserved for some atrocious horror that may be lurking on some one's cheek or chin, but the motive behind my wonder is to know what makeup they are wearing. So if I am allowing these thoughts to clutter my brain-sphere during the day, surely all of you must be lying awake at night just pondering what makeup is gracing my mug. Well I'm gonna tell ya. Now be forewarned, these choices are interchangeable depending on season, blogger recommendation or money just burning a darn hole in my wallet But for now, these are in steady rotation - and I will share my thoughts on each.
1. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - love the texture, but in hopes of achieving a bronzed goddess effect this summer (what the heck was I thinking), I bought this in a shade too dark. Sooooooo - I just use less and blend more. :) Does keep me a little more oily in my t-zone due to its dewy nature, so I make sure powder is never more than an arm's reach away, duh - like any normal day.
2. Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in Fair - if you follow me on Instagram (and why are you not? @alittlebitetc) and read last month's favorites, you would know that I am just loving this product. However, and it's a big one, it has a odd, grainy texture that takes some getting used to - so if you can get past this, it is pretty great. Evens out my skin, keeps my oil at bay - solid.
3. Giorgio Armani Face Fabric in Shade 2 - been using this for quite a while and love the whipped texture. It drys down to a powdery finish which is great for me and my oil! (we go everywhere together, besties)
4. Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector in Light/Medium - somewhat ambivalent about this product (shocking I know). A little too dark for me so I tend to wear on weekends mixed with some moisturizer. So-so.
5. Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet - It has been a while since I have worn a true foundation (the old me wouldn't recognize the new me, tsk, tsk, tsk), but I heard rave reviews about this. It wears very well and does keep me matte, but offers much more coverage so I have moved this to my special occasion makeup pile. Yes, there are piles. #nojudgement
6. Boscia BB Cream - received this in my July Birchbox, and have been wearing over the past week. Enjoying it, hinges on a tad too dark, but as we all know that does not scare me off. Dust a lighter powder on top to set, and all is kosher.
Now that I have shared my face, kindly share yours. What is on rotation in your makeup routine?
