New Lip Launches From Lipstick Queen, Dolce & Gabbana And Clinique
There is nothing (well almost nothing) that a new lipstick can't fix, right? It's the first product I go buy when I am having a bad day. It can be a fancy one from Chanel or a gloss from the drugstore, either way a new lip color can be a great pick-me-up. Here are three new lip launches from Clinique, Lipstick Queen and Dolce & Gabbana that are worth checking out next time you are having a case of the Mondays (or because you are a makeup fanatic like me and have no self control):
1. Clinique Pop Lip Color + Primer - I don't know if it was the names or the colors, but either way I fell instantly in love with these cute new lip colors from Clinique. But let me be honest, I was more jazzed about the concept of them than trying the actual formula because I had assumed they would be sheer, lightly pigmented and more of a tinted balm. Well, this could not be further from the truth! Holy cow - these lip colors pack a serious punch (har, har, har) of color! And they feel like this creamy, moisturizing dream on the lips - smoothing out any dry patches and making the fine lines in my lips look less noticeable. Cute names, adorable packaging and a formula I love? You win, Clinique.
2. Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Matte Lipsticks - While I was not quite sure what to expect with the Clinique lip colors, I knew exactly what to expect with these new matte lipsticks from Dolce & Gabbana. They were exactly the seriously pigmented and intensely matte formulas I imagined. I typically wear lipsticks more than lip glosses, and have come to really love a matte texture on the lips. But even with a matte finish, this D&G lipstick manages to glide easily onto the lips rather than pulling and dragging like matte lipsticks of years ago. I know this may surprise all of you, but my favorite of the two was Inferno. So dark and vampy but so fierce! Dark lip shades can be a bit more high maintenance to wear because they need to be applied evenly and lips need to be exfoliated and well moisturized. I did not swatch it below with any lip liner or primer, because I wanted to show the true application but I have found that priming the lip with a nude lip liner and using a lip brush made for a much smoother finish. Here is a picture I posted to instagram of me wearing it after using this technique and it came out beautiful. I know summer is a time for bright colors, but it can't hurt to break the rules a bit and sport a dark lip every now and then.
3. Lipstick Queen Cupids Bow Lip Pencils - I'm probably a bit biased with this new formula, because two of my holy grail lip colors are from Lipstick Queen. This formula in the shade Pink Bluff is one of my favorite "my lip color but better" shades, and this Lipstick Queen formula in the shade Saint Pinky Nude is another holy grail. As you can see from the below swatches, these colors are not for the faint of heart since they give opaque coverage. Luckily there is a great range of both natural shades mixed with bold, daring shades to appease everyone. These go on extremely creamy so be sure not to leave them laying around in the sun or warmer temperatures (I learned this the hard way sadly), but instantly dry down to a creamy matte finish and do.not.move. There is a slight lipstain quality about them because of this intense staying power so be prepared to grab your cleansing oil at night to remove them. Because the pencil itself is a quite narrow and skinny, they give a more precise application than many other jumbo pencils. And so with another launch, my love affair with Lipstick Queen continues.

4 Red Lipsticks I'm Loving Right Now
Though I love the look of a neutral lip, I actually find red lips to be much easier to wear. And I will tell you why. With a nude lip, I often need to create a stronger eye, cheek and brow look to balance it, while a red (or bold) lip can be worn with lashes, a dash of bronzer and a quick grooming of the brows for a finished look. Here are 4 lipsticks that I recently discovered that I've been wearing a lot lately (and it doesn't hurt that it's the holiday season so I have an extra excuse to sport a red lip all the time).
1. MAKE Cosmetics in Maraschino Cherry - I am new to the MAKE cosmetics brand, but when they sent over some products for me to try, I zeroed in on this red lip immediately. It's a comfortable satin formula that doesn't wear too shiny or too matte and is a nice change from my regular orange-reds that I usually gravitate towards. Though the bullet is a different shape than I am used to, I found it incredibly easy to apply (even more so than the regular shaped bullets) and that's half the battle with a red lip, amiright??
2. Gucci Lipstick in Iconic Red - This color is not for the faint of heart - I should warn you now. This is one of the boldest and most vibrant reds I have ever worn and I simply adore it. In fact, it actually ranks in my top 5 favorite reds at this point. That is how much it has impressed me and I've only had it for a few weeks. The color was designed to be the exact match for the red in the iconic Gucci green and red stripe, and it looks flawless on. The formula is a fuller coverage and surprisingly is so comfortable on the lips. I was not impressed with the Gucci lipsticks when first swatching them at the store and felt they wouldn't be worth the investment. After caving and buying just this one and then wearing it over the past month, I can say without a doubt I was 100% wrong. This texture is one of the best I've ever tried and I only wish all of my lipsticks could feel this way on my lips.
3. Lipstick Queen Silver Screen Lipstick in Have Paris - This is a much more sheer formula but can easily be built up to give a full coverage as seen above. The formula is very soft and feels almost like a balm when it first applies. It has a slightly shiny finish so I find it doesn't wear as long as some of my other formulas, but it's a better option for days that I don't want such an intense and bold look. We all have those days, right?
4. Kevyn Aucoin Lipstick in Eliarice - I am a bit disappointed in the way the swatches came out for this color because the camera is skewing it to be a bit more blue. The truth is that when I first saw this shade, it looked like a brown red with a hint of blah orange. I was not excited in the least since I always like the "wow" factor of vibrant shades. Sadly I waited a week before trying this out and wasted 7 days of my life not enjoying this color! It is AH-MAY-ZING. Wearable, not obnoxious, so comfortable on the lips and easy to pair with a stronger eye without competing or creating a look that screams "she is wearing too much makeup". I don't know where this color has been my whole life, but I feel like a better human being now that I have found it.

Rotating In Some New Lip Colors
So many lipsticks, only one pair of lips. Amiright???? Either way, I can't turn down a chance to try a new lip color, even if it may take me 178 years to finally finish all of them. I've tried a slew of colors in the past few weeks and narrowed it down to my 7 top favorites. Some are neutral and some are bold, so clearly I am turning over a new leaf permanently because my nude to bold ratio is almost even at this point. Who am I, right? But bold lips are often the easiest to throw on in the morning when I don't want to fuss with eye makeup.
The NARS Velvet lip liners are the newest of the colors shown and I picked a vibrant orange in Playa Dorado and a bold pale peach in Anse Soleil.The texture gives a strong matte finish but I actually like wearing them as full lip colors rather than just a liner. The Playa Dorado is one that I have been pairing with my Clinique Baby Tints (read my review here) in Coming Up Rosy and Poppin Poppy. Because the NARS liner is so pigmented and the Baby Tints are so sheer, it's like a match made in heaven. They are a bit more matte in my opinion than the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, so a balm or gloss over top is a must for me. But the color pay off is IN-TEN-SE. And that's what I love about it.
I'm new to the Lipstick Queen brand but one of my favorite nude lips is Saint Pinky Nude (seriously it's perfect), so I was anxious to try more.The Velvet Rope lipsticks in Brat Pack and Private Party are truly decadent. They are quite a splurge at $50, but you seriously get what you pay for with these. These are one of the smoothest textures I've tried and they have the softness of a nourishing lip balm with the color pay-off of an intense matte texture. You can see even in my swatches how the color looks so even and creamy. And Brat Pack is such a gorgeous elegant red that I feel like a sassy pants (I mean, more than normal) whenever I wear it. The lipstick in Saint Rose is part of the their Sinner/Saint collection, and the Saint lipsticks are always more sheer and hydrating. The color is definitely unique in that it looks quite different swatched on the arm versus on the lips. On the lips, it looks like a red/rose, whereas on the arm is reads more plum. It's different than anything I currently have in my collection (I know, I can't believe it either) and that's why I like it.
After going on and on about the Kevyn Aucoin loose shimmer shadows in Monday's post, the love continues with two lip shades from the line. I posted a pic on Instagram when I first received the Expert Lip Color in Jorjia because I couldn't believe how stunning this fuchsia looked on. And considering I wasn't wearing any makeup in that picture, yet the color still looked amazing says everything. The Matte Lip Color in "For Keeps" is a bit more muted but I actually sheered it out a bit in the picture. If applied with a heavy hand, this color is an intense vibrant coral. I prefer the way I show it in the picture because it looks like a gorgeous nude lip. Usually I throw on a clear balm or sheer gold gloss and it makes a great complement to a bronzy smokey eye.

Summertime Lips
So red it's almost orange. I didn't even know I had a thing for these bright vibrant coral shades until I looked in my drawer and realized I have bought quite a few at this point. And though they look good worn any time of the year, summer is when they seem the most appropriate. These four shades run the gamut from sheer and juicy to matte and bold.
1. Lipstick Queen in Stoked* - Swipe it on once for a subtle hint of color, or build it up for a true punch. The texture of this new color from Lipstick Queen's Endless Summer collection is lightweight and hydrating and I can already see this being a favorite of mine for the summer.
2. Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Raven - One of the longest wearing lipstick formulas I own, these Hourglass Opaque Rouges are no joke. Super pigmented, super matte and
surprisingly super comfortable on the lips. I already own the shade Canvas which has become one of my holy grail lip colors, so Raven was the perfect next color. These lipsticks feel like velvet on the lips and this color is the quintessential fiery coral. Buy it and thank me later.
3. Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Color in Mod - Slightly less pigmentation than Hourglass and a true matte texture, this is weightless on the lips. Often I can feel matte lipsticks on my lips, but this is easy to wear and rarely needs reapplication. I can see this with glowing, dewy skin and lots of lashes. Oh and a beach, umbrella drink and straw fedora.
4. Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Zinfandel - I am not going to stop until I have collected every bite beauty lip color out there. I LIVE for this brand. All of the products feel amazing on the lips, have food grade ingredients and wear forever. I bought this Zinfandel shade and another shade called Tart in the same Sephora shopping trip - and frankly I am quite proud of that since at one point I had 7 Bite shades in my hand and forced myself to pick only two. My favorite quality is the pencil tip which makes application a breeze. And it is much thinner and more pointed than similar pencil style lip products which again makes Bite beauty a winner in my book.

New In And Loving: Hourglass, Lipstick Queen, Murad and Chantecaille
Whenever I try something new (new to me that is) and love it, I find it almost impossible to not talk about it every single chance I get. Hence the reason I started this blog. Whenever I would buy a new blush/lipstick/cleanser that wowed me, I felt the need to tell anyone and everyone and unfortunately those close friends in my life were often not that into beauty. Or if they were, they were not that into the product I was pushing. Thankfully, I don't have to worry about that anymore because I have managed to find an outlet for all my beauty excitement - yay for me, and yay for you! I have been using these 4 products regularly over the past few weeks and they are knocking my socks off - and of course I have to share my good news.
1. Murad Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 (c/o) - I have such a love/hate relationship with my oily skin. It helps keep me looking young but can be so hard to manage - no one likes a shiny face mid day. I have been testing this out for the past few weeks and have actually put aside one of my favorite daytime SPF moisturizers in favor of wearing this regularly. The texture is quite thick and initially had me a bit hesitant, and then I let it soak in for 30 seconds and my face felt smooth and hydrated, with a natural matte finish. The true test for me is applying makeup over a product and this passed with flying colors - making the need for powder touch ups minimal throughout the day. My summer shine better be scared.
2. Chantecaille Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask (c/o) - I have started my Chantecaille journey and now that I'm the train, I don't plan to get off anytime soon. Each and every product is better than the next (remember these lipsticks I gushed about?) - and this mask is no exception. I initially used the mask right before I got sick and thought it was great. Then I got sick - cue awful, sensitive skin that was dehydrated, irritated and in some places (my nose) raw and uncomfortable (yuck, I know). That is when this mask went from great to AH-MAY-ZING. It truly helped heal and soothe my skin immediately, alleviating the pain I was having from the irritation and raw/dry patches. I'm convinced this stuff is magic.
3. Lipstick Queen in Saint Pinky Nude (top swatch in the above pic) - This is my first Lipstick Queen lipstick, and I can tell you without a doubt, it will not be my last. The texture is divine - creamy, smooth and hydrating on the lips, while the color is simply perfect. The perfect natural pink - not too brown and not too rose. I'm thinking this is going to become a staple in my collection.
4. Hourglass Ambient Blush in Radiant Magenta (c/o) (bottom swatch in the above pic) - You all know my obsession with Hourglass, and (of course) they knocked it out of the park with these blushes, which are a mix between the Ambient Lighting powders and vivid blush colors. The pigmentation is quite intense (but then again I am practically transparent), so while my first try was with quite a heavy hand, I had to ease up for my second use. The result was a gorgeous, radiant flushed cheek that suits almost any eye look I can pair with it. Will I be getting more? You betcha. I already have my eye on Luminous Flush and Mood Exposure next.
